Investment Schemes Supporting Gozitan Employment and Business Growth

A number of investment schemes have been launched to encourage job creation, business growth, and long-term sustainability in Gozo. These initiatives are designed to help employers attract and retain Gozitan talent, promote flexible working arrangements, and support knowledge-based sectors on the island.

1.  Gozo Teleworking Scheme

The Gozo Teleworking Scheme assists employers based or having business premises in Malta to offer their Gozitan resident employees the opportunity to work remotely. Through this scheme, employers can benefit from a grant of up to €10,000 per employee, spread over three years, based on the number of telework days granted. Additionally, a one-time grant is available to support technological and capital investments required to set up telework arrangements.

Support Available:
    • Salary Refund: Up to €10,000 per employee over three years.
    • Equipment Reimbursement: 75% refund on eligible equipment costs, up to €850.

2.  Supporting Knowledge-Based Sectors in Gozo

This scheme targets Gozo-based businesses operating within knowledge-intensive sectors, offering substantial financial supportfor both salaries and employee training. Eligible employers can receive a partial salary reimbursement of up to €8,000 per year (up to €24,000 over three years) and a training reimbursement of up to €1,500 per year.

3.  Supporting Sustainable Quality Employment in Gozo

This scheme supports Gozo-based employers through partial salary reimbursements spread over three years for employees onfull-time, indefinite contracts. It aims to enhance full-time employment in Gozo by promoting competitive salaries, long-term stability, and reducing wage gaps with the national average.
